Teach your child Float to Live.
Free. This summer.

193 people drowned accidentally in the UK in 2024, and nearly half never meant to be in the water at all. The skill that survives an unexpected fall takes one afternoon to learn. We've built it as a family mission, and it's free for everyone.

REAL SKILLS · REAL BADGES · 100% FREE

No card. No subscription. It's just free.

One mission. Both of you.

This isn't another video for your child to watch alone. You're half of the mission, and the app won't start without you.

1 · They learn (3 min)

A short interactive lesson: why cold water is dangerous, and the five moves that beat it. Proper teaching, not a lecture.

2 · You prep (90 sec)

Your coach brief: how to run one supervised practice at the pool, what good looks like, and the safety rules. The mission stays locked until you've read it.

3 · Do it for real

A relaxed practice float in a lifeguarded pool, with you right there, at your child's own pace. You sign it off. They earn the badge. It's theirs for life.

The five moves your child will learn

  1. 1Tilt your head back, ears in the water.
  2. 2Relax and try to breathe normally.
  3. 3Move your hands and legs gently to stay afloat.
  4. 4Legs sinking? That's fine. Everyone floats differently.
  5. 5Spread your arms and legs out, like a starfish.

Cold water shock, the gasping and the racing heart, passes in less than a minute. Float through that minute and you can call for help or swim to safety. Based on the RNLI's Float to Live guidance (rnli.org/water-safety/float).

Safety-first by design

The mission can't start until your safety brief is read. Practice happens in lifeguarded pools only, with you beside them, never alone.

No photos, ever

Completion is verified by your confirmation, not an upload. Rocket Learning never sees or stores a photo of your child.

Genuinely free

No card, no trial countdown, no catch. Some things shouldn't be behind a paywall. This is one of them.

Questions parents ask

Does my child need to be a good swimmer?

No, and that's the point. Float to Live works even for weak swimmers, and the lesson teaches why swimming hard is exactly the wrong first move in cold water. Pool practice happens in the shallow end, with you within arm's reach, at whatever pace your child is comfortable with.

Is it really free?

Yes. The lesson, the parent brief, the mission and the badge are free for every family. No card details, no trial countdown. Rocket Learning's full curriculum (KS1 to GCSE, 7 subjects) is a subscription, but this mission never will be.

How long does it take?

About three minutes on screen for your child, ninety seconds for you, and one 20 to 30 minute pool visit. A normal family swim with ten purposeful minutes in it.

What age is it for?

The lesson is written for roughly ages 7 to 12, but the float itself is worth practising at any age. Most adults don't know it either.

Is this professional swimming instruction?

No. It's educational content based on published RNLI guidance, taught as a family activity you supervise. It doesn't replace swimming lessons, and it isn't affiliated with or endorsed by the RNLI.

The water doesn't warn you.

One afternoon this summer. One skill for life.
